Project:
New Glass Skin for The Momentary

The building is an extension of the local Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. The newly adapted structure was designed by Wheeler Kearns Architects of Chicago, IL.

One of the key architectural features is a 24-meter-high tower, which is enveloped by a glass facade. The new glass skin is equipped with our AL-WALL FLAT system and also serves as an innovative projection surface. The elevator shaft and staircase are located inside the concrete tower.

BANDALOOP, pioneers in vertical modern dance, successfully tested the tower as a projection surface and stage. To inaugurate the "public space," the dance group choreographed and performed a show on the glass surface. A facade that also functions as a digital art canvas is highly relevant today. Outdoor venues can become spaces where culture can thrive in a safe and healthy environment.

“This cutting-edge installation marks the beginning of a positive and creative future,” remarks Robert Jayson, Director of Bendheim.

The architects chose our glass fastening system for its user-friendliness. The system is mounted directly to the concrete substrate, eliminating the need for an expensive steel substructure. This also avoids shadow lines behind the glass facade. With the patented clips, the glass panes can be installed and replaced individually, independent of the neighboring panes. This means quick installation and easy maintenance.

“This unique quality won us and the developer over,” says Calli Verkamp.
