Kinnick Stadion Iowa City

Project:
Façade Redesign of Kinnick Stadium, Home of the Hawkeyes American Football Team.

The new ventilated glass façade encloses the entire north side of the stadium, spanning 199 meters. A hawk's wing inspired the new look and unique glass design.
The façade system uses special clips to securely hold individual glass panels in place without the need for glass drilling. This system allows for quick installation and easy maintenance—an important advantage for this specific project: The entire fabrication, delivery, and installation of the façade took place conveniently during the 2019 off-season and lasted only two months.

“Hawkeye fans love their stadium. Many have season tickets, so we were very mindful of transforming the stadium,” said Asa Houston, architect at Neumann Monson. “We aimed to design something light and elegant on the north side, creating a modern balance with the historic part of the building. The design was intended to align with the original 1929 look.”
