Project:
Fort Malakoff Passage Dachübergang, Mainz

The new roof passage of the Fort Malakoff Passage in Mainz connects two pavilions. The objective at the time of contract award was to create a pedestrian-friendly, wind- and weather-protected walkway between a round and a square roof pavilion. These pavilions are located on the extensively greened flat roof of the passage.

The passage consists of a hot-dip galvanized steel structure, shingle glass cladding, a roofing made from powder-coated aluminum sheets, an underlayer of folded aluminum sheets with necessary cut-outs, and a walkway made of aluminum grates. Since the installation could only take place on the roof, the prior segmentation and planning of the structure were especially significant.
